Oregon is an unincorporated community in Mercer County, Kentucky, in the United States. [1] The community was originally founded as McGary's Station, named after Hugh McGary. Oregon was considered one of the area's centers of the hog trade by 1846. [2]

Hikers will reach Upper Kentucky Falls after the first 0.8 miles. Descending another 1.4 miles, the trail ends at an observation deck overlooking Lower Kentucky Falls, an incredible 100 foot twin falls at the confluence of Kentucky Creek and Smith River.

Oregon is a Mercer county community on the Kentucky River about five miles northeast of Harrodsburg. Nearby was Harrod's Landing, established by James Harrod who settled at Harrodsburg in 1774. A town of Warwick was chartered near Harrod's Landing by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1787 and it became an important Kentucky River port.
