The Detroit Red Wings selected left wing Carter Bear Friday with the 13th pick in the NHL entry draft. Bear, a 6-foot, 179-pound left shooter from Everett (WHL), tied for seventh in goals in the WHL (40) despite missing the final 12 games due to an Achilles injury. He added 42 assists for 82 points in 56 games.

The Boston Bruins selected center James Hagens of NCAA powerhouse Boston College with the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft Friday night at The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, taking arguably the most well-rounded center off the board.

As expected, the NHL and NHL Players' Association came to terms on a collective bargaining agreement extension on Friday, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

The NHL and NHLPA are in the final stages of agreeing to a four-year extension of the CBA through September 2030, sources confirmed to ESPN.
