Asa Newell, former University of Georgia Bulldogs forward, was introduced to the media as the Atlanta Hawks' first-round NBA draft pick.

The Atlanta Hawks introduced their first round pick Asa Newell on Friday. The Hawks selected Newell from the University of Georgia during the 2025 NBA Draft first round Wednesday night on Channel 2. Newell was born in Atlanta and raised in Athens until his family moved to Florida, so he grew up a Hawks fan.

The Atlanta Hawks have selected Asa Newell with the No. 23 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. With a smooth lefty jumper and strong mobility, Newell brought shooting touch, fluidity and switchability to the Georgia Bulldogs' frontcourt.
