Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been a harsh critic of "open borders" and is making headlines for demonizing undocumented people in the United States. However, per a new report from Bloomberg Businessweek, he has benefited from the labor of undocumented workers for years, as they have regularly worked at Tesla's gigafactory in Austin.

A new Bloomberg investigation shows undocumented immigrants have been a constant presence in Musk's companies.

A State Department spokesperson told Forbes the department has “no current plans” to move forward with the potential contract, which was initiated under the Biden administration.

Elon Musk has long railed against the U.S. government, saying a crushing number of federal probes and safety programs have stymied Tesla, his electric car company, and its efforts to create fleets of robotaxis and other self-driving automobiles.

The billionaire said he was given top secret clearance years ago, but that classified information makes communication within the government too hard.
