Rachel Reeves reeled off a dizzying list of wildly varying numbers and time horizons, covering programme after programme funded in Britain’s spending review. Over the next five years, £14bn ($19bn) would go to a new nuclear plant.

The government is eager to shout about its investment in transport infrastructure and nuclear projects in this review. Reeves has committed £113 billion in extra capital spending, including £15 billion on transport outside London and £14.2 billion on the Sizewell C nuclear power plant, part of an £86 billion fund to "boost science and technology".

The Spending Review will be delivered by Reeves on Wednesday, 11 June. She will make the announcement at around 12:30 BST, after Prime Minister's Questions. In October she set department budgets for 2025-26, and will now confirm how much they have to spend over the following three to four years.
