Cristian Romero has been appointed as the new captain of Tottenham Hotspur after Son Heung Min ’s departure. Son led Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years with victory in the Europa League at the end of last season, but has now departed the club after a decade in London to join LAFC.

Argentine centre-half will lead his side out when Tottenham take on European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.

Son Heung-min has announced he will be leaving Tottenham. Son says his decision is "the most difficult” of his career and adds the Premier League club is supporting him as he looks to move on.
