When it comes to Super Bowl parades, we don't usually see one until a team actually wins the game, but in New Orleans, they do things differently and that's a big reason why the city decided to hold a parade the day BEFORE the Super Bowl.

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened in the French Quarter on Sunday. This stabbing comes as security has been heightened for the Super Bowl. According to the NOPD, the stabbing was reported in the 1000 block of Decatur Street.

Despite heightened security measures in the French Quarter for Super Bowl week, Louisiana officials say legally carried firearms will still be allowed in the designated safety zone, despite ongoing concerns from city leaders.

If visitors want to explore the French Quarter during Super Bowl weekend, they'll have to do it on foot with numerous street closures and armed guards at every intersection.

Streetcar lines roll to Uptown, Mid-City or City Park. A ferry crosses the Mississippi River to Algiers Point. By car, it’s easy to reach Esplanade Ridge; the shops and eateries on Magazine Street or Metairie Road; and seafood spots in Bucktown, along the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. As we gear up for the Super Bowl, Eagles fans are excited for the Birds to take the field, but the real show-stopper is what they're playing for: the Lombardi Trophy.
