Swiss skier Camille Rast won the women's slalom at the Alpine world championships. Mikaela Shiffrin finished fifth and missed out on what would have been the American's record-setting 16th career medal at worlds.

Camille Rast won slalom gold in a Swiss one-two with Wendy Holdener on Saturday as American Mikaela Shiffrin missed out on a record 16th career medal at the Alpine Skiing World Championships.Austria's Katharina Liensberger took the bronze on home snow in the last women's race of the 13-day championships in Saalbach.

Swiss skier Camille Rast has built a big lead and Mikaela Shiffrin was looming in third in the opening run of the women's slalom at the Alpine world championships.
