As of Wednesday morning, the impact Erin could have on Florida and the U.S. remains uncertain but officials encourage residents to monitor the storm.

Tropical Storm Erin continues to move quickly to the west and is expected to begin strengthening and become a hurricane Aug. 14 or 15.

Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to become the season’s first hurricane by Thursday. The storm, which earned a name early Monday and is churning in the open Atlantic, could strengthen into a major hurricane of at least Category 3 strength by this weekend.
