Gov. Mike Braun rejected a clemency plea from Benjamin Ritchie Wednesday, one day after the Indiana Parole Board recommended that the death row inmate’s May 20 execution proceed as scheduled.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Parole Board rejected a clemency plea from Benjamin Ritchie, recommending that Gov. Mike Braun allow the death row inmate’s May 20 execution to proceed as scheduled.

The decision on whether the Menendez brothers should be granted release now rests with the California state parole board and Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. The brothers shot dead their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, inside their upscale Beverly Hills home on August 20, 1989 and have since been in prison.

Convicted in 2013 for the 2007 killing of Christina Baxley of Dixon, Paige Linville, 41, will remain in prison and continue to serve her 25 years-to-life sentence.
