The woman from Brazil fell down a steep embankment while hiking Mount Rinjani, a volcano in Indonesia. Poor weather and rugged terrain delayed search and rescue operations.

A young Brazilian hiker who fell hundreds of feet from the ridge of a towering Indonesian volcano and was trapped there for almost four days was found dead on Tuesday, Brazil's government said. For days, millions of people in Brazil had watched, posted and prayed as rescuers tried to locate her.

Indonesian officials said it took rescuers at least five hours to retrieve Juliana Marins, the Brazilian tourist who fell down a ravine at Mount Rinjani on Lombok island.
