The Hoosiers stumbled their way to an early exit up the road from their campus, and took their NCAA Tournament hopes out of their own hands.

Oregon men's basketball put away Indiana on Thursday in the Big Ten Tournament and will next play No. 1 seed Michigan State in the quarterfinals.

The No. 9 Hoosiers (19-12) lost 72-59 to an Oregon team that beat them on their West Coast trip nine days earlier. Those losses were huge setbacks for an IU team firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble, while the No. 8 Ducks (23-8) head into the quarterfinals to face No. 1 Michigan State, having won eight straight games.

Indiana will watch how Xavier, Villanova, North Carolina, SMU, VCU, Liberty, San Diego State and Dayton fare in the coming days.

Indiana came into the day ranked No. 52 in the NET Rankings with a 4-12 record against Quad 1 opponents (three of those wins came on the road) and no losses against Quad 2-4 teams. They finished .500 in conference play after closing out the regular season with five wins in their last seven games.
