Hytale, the ambitious sandbox RPG that was announced nearly seven years ago by Hypixel Studios, has been cancelled. In addition, Hypixel Studios will close later this year. Hypixel Studios CEO Aaron “Noxy” Donaghey posted a letter on X to announce the cancellation of Hytale and closure of his studio. His full statement can be read below.

Riot Games is closing the studio behind Hytale, its Minecraft -like game that has been in development for nearly a decade. Hypixel Studios, which Riot acquired in 2020 for an undisclosed sum, is shutting down “over the next few months,” according to Hypixel CEO Aaron “Noxy” Donaghey.
