An $10 billion natural gas-powered data center to serve the surging demands of artificial intelligence is being planned for the site of a former coal-fired power plant in Pennsylvania.

The partners aim to convert the Homer City Generating Station, a decommissioned 2GW coal-burning power station near Homer City, Indiana County, Pennsylvania into a 4.5GW natural gas powered data center campus spanning more than 3,200 acres. The project has been dubbed The Homer City Energy Campus.

Officials say the Homer City Energy Campus in western Pennsylvania is designed to meet the growing AI and high-performance computing needs of tech companies.
